Series / So Native Yet So Foreign
Touching upon themes of diaspora and cultural displacement, ‘So Native Yet So Foreign’ is an exploration of identity, culture and belonging. The works depict the contradiction of living in between nations and memories. Through narrative figuration, the series investigates the diasporic geopolitical and emotional dimensions. Using painting as a decolonising tool to reclaim personal history, the paintings preserve cross-cultural moments and process the complexities of the invisible ‘third-culture’ experience.
