I am not soft-spoken, submissive and nor am I bound by the traditional Javanese customs. I express myself freely in the way I dress and speak, I have numerous tattoos and swear a bit too much.

I am not a traditional Javanese woman, and a lot of it can be attributed to Raden Adjeng Kartini, a pioneer of women’s rights in Indonesia. From darkness into light, only if Kartini could be here today to see the effects she has on women in Indonesia today.
